Prioritize Indoor Air Quality

  • Ventilation: Ensure proper airflow by opening windows regularly to let fresh air in. In areas without natural ventilation, use exhaust fans or air purifiers.

  • Air Purifiers: Invest in high-quality HEPA filters that can trap pollutants. Place them in rooms where you spend the most time, such as the bedroom and living room.

  • Houseplants: Certain houseplants, such as spider plants, snake plants, and peace lilies, are known to improve indoor air quality by absorbing toxins.

Reduce Toxic Chemicals

  • Non-toxic Cleaning Products: Opt for natural or non-toxic cleaning solutions like vinegar, baking soda, or eco-friendly commercial products.

  • Natural Pest Control: Instead of using chemical pesticides, try using natural alternatives such as essential oils (e.g., peppermint, tea tree) to keep pests away.

  • Choose Non-toxic Furniture: When purchasing furniture, look for products made from solid wood or certified organic materials, which are less likely to off-gas harmful chemicals.


Maintain Clean Surfaces

  • Disinfect High-Touch Areas: Regularly clean high-touch surfaces to prevent the spread of germs.

  • Vacuum Frequently: Carpets and rugs can trap dust, pet hair, and allergens. Vacuum with a HEPA filter to capture fine particles.

Control Humidity

Maintain Safe Plumbing

Create a Relaxing Bedroom

  • Choose Organic Bedding: Opt for organic cotton sheets, pillowcases, and blankets that are free of harsh chemicals like pesticides and flame retardants.

  • Remove Electronics: Avoid using electronics before bed, and consider removing them from the bedroom.

  • Keep it Dark and Quiet: Use blackout curtains to block out external light and consider using a white noise machine or earplugs if noise is an issue.


Ensure Safe Lighting

  • Maximize Natural Light: Allow as much natural light into your home as possible during the day to boost mood and energy levels.

  • Use Energy-Efficient Bulbs: Choose LED or CFL bulbs to reduce energy consumption and exposure to harmful chemicals such as mercury.

  • Avoid Blue Light Before Bed: Limit Blue light at least an hour before bed as this can can interfere with your circadian rhythm and disrupt sleep.
