It's essential to start preparing your space for the winter months. Wherever you're located, autumn is the perfect season to tackle these tasks before the falling temperatures and snow make them challenging.

Inspect Weatherstripping on Windows & Doors
Cold air can sneak in through even the smallest gaps. Examine the strips, or foam tape that surrounds your doors and window frames to ensure they are in good condition.

Check Your Fireplace
If its been several years since your last chimney inspection, it's likely time to schedule a cleaning. Birds or other animals may build nests in your chimney, leading to blockages that will make carbon monoxide flow back into your home.

Ensure Your Gutters are Clean
Keeping your gutters clear is essential in the winter months. Clogged gutters can make water and ice back up under the shingles of a home. Icicles can also can gutters to dislodge from the home. Be sure to thoroughly clean and inspect gutters before winter storms.

Keep Your Home Well Insulated
Keep the warmth in and the cold out with door draft stoppers. This investment is beneficial for any home, making it an excellent addition for preparing your space for the winter chill. Plus, it helps reduce your winter heating expenses.

Protect Outdoor Spigots
Outdoor faucet covers serve as warm mittens for your garden spigots. These thick, waterproof protectors prevent your outdoor faucets from freezing, sparing you from plumbing troubles. Think of faucet covers as your initial defense against the chilling grasp of winter.

Switch the Rotation of Ceiling Fans
Since heat rises, ensure your ceiling fan spins clockwise to help circulate warm air down to your living space. Typically, you can find a small button on the side of the fan to make this adjustment.
